Portuguese exports grow footwear by 7.7% in 2014. Portugal exported last year, roughly 89 million pairs of shoes, worth 1,870 million euros.
This is the 5th consecutive year of growth in exports, which reached a new record high.
Exports grew in almost all markets, particularly in Europe, with an increase of 7.2% to 1 623 million euros. Outside Europe (growth of over 10%), highlighting the performances in the United States (over 69% to 46 million), Angola (plus 3% to EUR 28 million), Canada (over 24% to 23 million euros ) and Australia (over 34% to EUR 11 million). Countries with China, Colombia and Japan begin also to be high in the geographical map of sector exports.
Since 2009, the Portuguese footwear sales in foreign markets increased by well over 50%. Portugal is consolidating its presence in European markets and has doubled its presence in overseas markets.
